She (the doctor) knew about my eating disorder. I’d been very open with her. In fact, we were even – I was even being weighed on the scale backwards. That’s something that – I felt like I didn’t want to know my weight, so I said to my doctor, “Just tell me if there’s something wrong.” And I never heard anything about it, and so I assumed everything was going well. And I did – because I wanted to be really careful, and I knew that -well, I was scared of going back into my eating disorder after I had the baby because of the weight change. So I had actually been referred to a mental health program – a perinatal mental health program. And I was assessed there. I’m seeing a psychiatrist, but not really – I mean, it was mostly just to check in. It wasn’t really anything intensive. And like I said, it was – it was related to – I was scared that I would fall back into my eating disorder. That was my main concern.

Interviewer: So when – was – was the eating – so was the eating disorder under control when you got pregnant?

Yes. It was under control when I got pregnant. And it – part of it, it had to be under control for me to get pregnant. That was a bit of a worry before I got pregnant, that I wouldn’t be able to, but it ended up everything was fine. And like I said, I – I really knew that it would be a big change. In fact, it was kind of funny, because when I got pregnant, I threw out all my old clothes – like, bags and bags and bags of it, donated it, because I thought, “You know what? I’m not going to have them in my closet and be upset that I can’t back – get back into them.” So I was like really preparing myself, like I said, seeing a psychi – a specialist psychiatrist for post-partum. And my family doctor knew – and like I said, that’s what I was preparing myself for, that that would be my biggest issue to deal with.
